SISCOVIP

Street Vending System for Mexico City's Ministry of the Interior. It digitises the permit for a stall: from the taco cart to the Sunday market.

The whole process, no counter queue

What it solves

The vendor registers their stall, says what they sell and where they set up, attaches what's required, and the Ministry grants or denies it. With the status always visible, which is half the problem of any government process.

The hard part: location

Here the permit depends on a point on a map. The corner isn't the same as the pavement across the street: different zone, different regulation, different signature required.

So the form can't be a text field with an address. It's a map that validates against permitted zones before letting you continue, because a badly located permit surfaces months later with the stall already built.

What I did

The whole frontend in React: the OpenStreetMap integration, zone validation, business-type catalogues, document uploads and process tracking. The design too.

::column-break::

The usual in government

Different regulations per zone, business categories that don't line up with each other, and several agencies that have to weigh in before any paper comes out.

SISCOVIP - Maps
You place the stall on the map and the map says whether it's allowed

Status

In development. When it ships, any vendor who wants to go legal will be able to without setting foot in an office.
