ITIZ ON ROBLOX

2020, pandemic. There were third-year students who'd spent three years at university without ever setting foot in it. They knew their lecturers over Zoom and where the raise-hand button was, but not what the cafeteria looked like.

So I rebuilt the whole Instituto Tecnológico de Iztapalapa in Roblox so they could walk through it.

What's inside

The full campus: corridors, classrooms, labs, library and cafeteria, where they actually are. With several people at once, which is what makes it a place rather than a model.

What I did

The campus modelling, the logic in Lua, and the multiplayer so you could actually hang around in there with someone.

Where the measurements came from

Photos, floor plans, and memory. A building you know stays with you, and where I fell short, I asked.

It was presented at the ITIZ Engineering Expo and the director backed it. Not bad for a lockdown experiment.
